One client, Melinda, never had
orgasms until she learned to breathe correctly. Distraught over a
relationship, she had followed a friend’s advice and begun attending
yoga classes. One day in class, she was sitting on the floor in a yoga
posture, with one leg bent in toward the groin and the other leg
extended out to the side. As instructed, she leaned over the extended
leg, reached out to grasp the ankle, and began to breathe deeply into
the pelvis. “You may never have thought of breathing this way,” the
teacher commented, “but open up the pelvic area with your breath.”
Suddenly, Melinda began to feel sexual excitement. How could this be
happening to her, in this room full of earnest spiritual students?
From that moment on, working with her breath, she underwent a sexual
awakening. Eventually, she was able to use her breath to encourage
full sexual feelings.
